Acquainted with the Night

(4) Base Camp

Sometimes the way that the sentences are twisted to match the rhythm of this poem makes it a little hard to follow, and the whole "luminary clock" being the moon thing is tricky, but overall the poem is pretty straightforward. Frost about hits us over the head with the "acquainted with the night" line, but the reader gets to decide what the line means – there's no metaphor for something specific hiding here.
