Shakespeare Words

Shakespearean, not stirred.

If Shakespeare wrote it, we've Shmooped it.

Bandit

Popularized in Henry IV Part 2

Come, soldiers, show what cruelty ye can,
That this my death may never be forgot!
Great men oft die by vile bezonians:
A Roman sworder and banditto slave
Murder'd sweet Tully; Brutus' bastard hand
Stabb'd Julius Caesar; savage islanders

Um, banditto? Sounds Italian to us. Oh—that's because it is…via Latin, of course.

This word turned into bandit, a regular ol' outlaw.
