Context

This misquoted line is found in Isaiah 48:22 or Isaiah 57:20.

If you're looking to name your baby something Biblical with a twist of wickedness, try Isaiah. The paraphrase "No rest for the wicked" is derived from two different passages in that wrathful book of the Bible. Isaiah 48:22 says, "There is no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked." And Isaiah 57:20 says, "But the wicked are like the tossing sea, For it cannot be quiet, And its waters toss up refuse and mud."

So Isaiah is a little dirty too, with all that refuse and mud, in addition to the wickedness. And, since the quote people often use is a paraphrase, it's a little lazy too.
