Quality Control Chart

Categories: Company Management

Really anal-retentive quality control managers carry these. They have the 87 things that need to be checked and rechecked and checked again, especially in companies that produce complex products. Like in a Clean Room at a semiconductor stamping facility, everything from the humidity and temp of the air to the number of dust modules per cubic foot of air have to be metered and monitored and controlled...or the stamping fail rate goes from 22% to 40%, and all of a sudden the profitable stamper loses gobs.

The chart tracks all the things that go wrong, lets the manager go back and find the reason things failed at every step of the process, lather, rinse, repeat, and hopefully keep very high throughput of product up there, so that margins stay high and the company...survives.
