Privileged Communication

Secret. Private. Privileged. As in: you only get to be privy to this conversation if you're my lawyer. And most communications among lawyer and client are, in fact, privileged, meaning that the opposition can't have that info. They can't subpoena it. They can't "know it" or use it against ya in court.
The notion of privileged communication exists because, well, there have to be safe harbor islands where those-in-trouble can communicate with those-in-the-know, to get good old-fashioned advice.
