PowerShares

Categories: Index Funds

Stock that has been struck by lightning and develops the power to fly and see through walls.

Also, the name of a brand of funds run by financial services firm Invesco.

PowerShares, founded in 2002 and purchased by Invesco in 2006, manages a group of exchange-traded funds, or ETFs. These cover a variety of indices, from broad index-based ETFs (like the PowerShares QQQ, meant to track the NASDAQ 100) to microcap stocks and commodities. Most ETFs and index funds are about the same; they're just a listing of whatevers. Stocks. Bonds. Blah. Not a lot of brain power behind it. But...great name, right?
