Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB)

Going above and beyond the call of duty. The extra mile. The icing on the cake.
OCB is the behavior of someone who is dedicated…the real rock star of the group. People with high levels of OCB will arrive early and stay late. They’ll take on tasks that are not even part of their job. They’ll just do it to help out. They’ll do it because they care about the organization they work for.
In other words, they’ll do it for free…and sometimes get taken advantage of. Sometimes they get recognition, too. It’s important to be fair. Not every company takes advantage of its most dedicated. Sometimes they actually promote those people, or at least give them raises.
