Canada has its version of the IRS. We assume they are much nicer to talk to and more likely to let you deduct expenses related to poutine purchases. Still, a tax bureaucracy is a tax bureaucracy. They have forms and paperwork just like their American counterparts.
The Notice of Assessment represents one of these documents. It serves as an acknowledgment from the Canada Revenue Agency that you filed your tax return. It provides a record from the CRA noting that the agency has processed the details of your filing.
