Gross Pay

Also known as gross income, gross pay refers to the money you make before taxes and other payments get taken out. So if you make $2,000 a month and you pay $500 in taxes and other deductions, you may only wind up with $1,500 on your pay stub. But your gross pay is still $2,000, even though you can't get your mitts on that extra $500.
