Demarker Indicator

Categories: Charts, Trading

Technical analysis-oriented quant traders spend inordinate amounts of time crunching numbers to come up with the better mousetrap/magic 8-ball that will give them an edge over their rivals.

Why?

Because they live in the land of ten-million-dollar-bonuses if they do. Thomas DeMarker’s DeM Indicator is a technical analysis oscillating line indicator that compares prices of stocks or forex at different past periods to a recent one to check for the formation or reversal of trends. These can be helpful for traders to gauge entry and exit points for a trade.

As long-term trends can skew numbers, DeM works most effectively when combined with candlesticks or other charting methods. (Don’t tell traders: close to 99% of the info in the DeM is also in the candlesticks, but if they need the extra security blanket…)
