Combined Single Limits

Categories: Insurance, Metrics

The total number of former girlfriends or boyfriends your current spouse ever wants to hear you talk about.

Also, a term related to property insurance.

When you buy a property insurance policy, potential claims can get computed in one of two ways: by using a combined single limit, or by using split limits. A combined single limit provides a total figure that the insurance company will pay out for any claim. This covers all aspects of the claim, including all property damage and all injuries.

For split limits, each aspect of the claim gets a limit. There are typically three categories: 1) a limit for each individual involved in the claim, 2) a limit for all personal injuries coming from the particular incident, and 3) a limit for all property damage caused by the accident.
