This tactic proved so successful that it has become a go-to move for authorities fighting large, conspiratorial operations. It's no surprise, then, that the same basic approach has become a key part of the war on terror.
The strategy of combating the financing of terrorism involves cutting off the money that funds terrorist activities. Under this course of action, the authorities attempt to identify organizations that funnel money to terrorists and cut off their ability to provide funding.
