You play the video game Uncharted a lot, and you dream about becoming a treasure hunter. You buy yourself an Indiana Jones hat. You start screaming at people randomly on streets that their jewelry “belongs in a museum.” And you ask Sean Connery to adopt you.
Then, one day you visit the website for the Association for Financial Professionals, because you found out they have a certification known as a “Certified Treasure Professional."
Well, you made a big mistake. Because you were actually finding information on what is known as a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP).
This is a designation that the AFP provides to financial professionals who specialize in cash and treasury management, and excel in an exam to prove their experience.
Like all things in finance, nothing is for free. You’ll pay money for 36 hours of regular training, and a fee to secure this designation every three years.
The certification requires at least two years in corporate finance, treasury, and cash management, accounting, investor relations, economics, or hedging management. You could also have one year of experience and a graduate or master’s degree in business or finance.
