Certified Internal Auditor - CIA
Categories: Education, Regulations, Accounting, Company Management
Nope, not an extremely obscure name for a gynecologist. This has to do with finance.
In general, an auditor is someone who looks at a company's books to make sure they are on the up and up. An internal auditor looks at the company's governance and control processes to make sure they are properly structured. Who watches the watchmen? Well, financially speaking, it's the internal auditor.
The certification for becoming an internal auditor is issued by the Institution of Internal Auditors. To get it, you'll need to have a college degree, spend two years working in the internal auditing field, and pass a four-part test.
