Asset Management Company - AMC

Categories: Managed Funds, Mutual Funds, Investing, Index Funds
AMC. Isn't that a movie theater chain? Eh. Different thing. An AMC in this sense is just the people who manage your investments. An asset management company...a company dedicated to managing your assets (meaning your money).
These AMCs come in a wide range of flavors...folks who push equities around in the form of mutual fund asset managers; other folks who push around bonds in a fund; and still other folks with a private equity and/or venture capital focus. There's some that specialize in overseas investments. Some that specialize in particular sectors. Tall ones, short ones, happy ones, sad ones. All kinds. And they all manage your assets...for a small(ish) fee. (Okay, sometimes a large(ish) fee.)
